Short Biography
Sacramento based visual artist, Shani Zuberi, has been undressing classical art pieces since 2019 and replacing them with her own features. As a recent graduate of Film Production from the California State University of Sacramento, Zuberi incorporates her love of storytelling and searching through archives into her artistic aesthetic.

Statement
Shani Zuberi (b. 1998, Fairfiled, CA) is a painter, photographer, media artist, video artist, and textual artist who lives and works in Sacramento. Zuberi’s main inspiration came during the height of 2020 pandemic when they discovered that museums and libraries offered free downloads of digitized artwork under public domain law to be used as desired which is important to them because there are so many rich stories that people can gather about their history through ancestry research, and census records, but they often lacking the visual evidence of their lineage.
