About

Mona Madl was born 1996 in a little Town in Salzburg, Austria. Growing up in a Country which is very influenced by Art and History, Mona soon began to get inspired by different styles of Art. Different Art of different history stages marked the towns and cities she walked through and became a huge blend, as well as her work. A slight influence of Caravaggio combined with abstracts. The heart of her art is to combine opposites and to make them one.

A symbiosis of two types of Art, created to be a whole. Traditional Art with Charcoal and pencil, mixed with new mediums as of acrylics and alcohol ink is the basis of the projects where she creates surreal mixed media works. Common to all her works are portraits and large contrasts between light and dark. Themes of mental health, personal identity and her faith are presented in her Art. She actively sells her artwork for US and European collectors. Her acrylic canvases, drawings as well as her prints are found in private homes and corporate collections worldwide. Mona is currently living and working in Pennsylvania, USA.

Guided by light, 2022

‘Guided by the Light’ is inspired by Gian Lorenzo Bernini’s Statue “The Vision of Constantine “. Constantine was the first Roman emperor who became a christian and this statue just shows a glimpse of what he must had felt seeing “the light”. It is truly amazing that a powerful man like him back then didn”t care about the religions which where around him, but instead he made a choice and found truth in something, people extremely despised back then.

All creation is longing for light. Without Light we cannot live and exist. “Spirit” shows the desperate need of Light we need, not only outside but also inside in our soul. A light, that shines from the inside out and spreads like a wild fire.

What is worth more: Riches and power or true Wisdom. In today’s world we have exchanged wisdom to get things which fade away. These things will leave us empty but a heart full of wisdom finds riches even in the most simplest things. It is time to gain back true wisdom.
